Washington Offers Online Voting Registration Through Facebook

Washington has become the first state in US that offers the residents to vote through Facebook.Washington ties up with Microsoft Corp. and Facebook to develop a new application for online voter registration using fb that would probabily launch this week or later.

At present 13 countries are offering online voter registration worldwide but Washington put the latest effort to enhance the voters participation by designing My Vote Online Service for the facebook users.Microsoft has developed this application with the collaboration of facebook.This app auto-populate a form based information like your name and date of birth from your facebook account , you need to enter the state identification number or driver’s licence number. The information provided by you or the entered data will not be entertained by facebook. Facebook does not provide the interface to save the data, it works as a frame for the users, user enter his name and D.O.B in facebook and is directed to the state’s official online voting site after that.Microsoft Corp. and Facebook developed this app at no cost and make the nation’s pride.

Users can like the My Vote Online app and share it to the friends in the orthodox way in facebook. By this act of Washington, the state Government will save $0.75 to $0.25 per application if user votes through facebook as compared to the classical way.
